Take a Road Trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico!

by Sharon Harrison

My friend, Karen, and I went on a great road trip to New Mexico a few years ago. It was a great place to do a getaway! We live in Kansas, so it's not too far from us. It's a quiet, easy drive and was great for two girls on the road.

As we got closer to our place, we turned off on this dirt road. I thought the scenery was very pretty and peaceful.

We found our rental by going down this little path.

This is the cute, little vacation home we rented. It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus living spaces: living room, dining room and kitchen. It had everything we needed to make meals and relax.

We loved the view from the back terrace!

This cactus was right beside the path up to our vacation home. That's something we don't normally see in Kansas!

I especially liked morning walks down the dirt roads near our vacation home. It was so quiet and peaceful.

One of the things we loved about the Santa Fe area is the food! We found some amazing food at the local restaurants!

One of the highlights for me was visiting the Loretto Chapel which houses the famous stairs that are thought to be a miracle. See this video for more information about the stairs:

These stairs originally had no hand rails or supports. A mysterious man showed up in answer to the nuns prayers and built these stairs that other carpenters said was impossible to do. They are very beautiful and are still a mystery today.

This church is the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.

In the square around the Basilica, I found this little fenced area with this crucifix. The words on it read: "In Honor of the Original Settlers of Santa Fe Buried Here".

We also enjoyed looking at and buying original Native American jewelry and pieces of art. There are many vendors that have tables or blankets spread out to sell their items.

One of the most relaxing things we did while we were there was to go to a spa called the Ojo Santa Fe Spa Resort. We fully enjoyed their day spa with a massage and a private soak in healing waters. We finished our experience by eating a healthy meal in their Blue Heron Restaurant. I highly recommend this spa for total relation!

We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the resort! It is a really beautiful place!

I loved our road trip to Santa Fe, and I would definitely go back again!!!
